- The UC San Diego Student Foundation is a non-profit, student-run philanthropic organization made up of diverse students who all strive us to give back to their campus community. The Student Foundation was founded in 1999 with a generous gift of $100,000 from alumni Marc and Patricia Brutten, who wanted to create an organization with the potential to grow year after year. Our mission is to plan the seed of philanthropy amongst UC San Diego students by raising money for scholarships and other student needs. We strive to connect and enhance the UC San Diego community through student philanthropy.
